Yankees Game #9
Failing Fred gave up 2 runs in the first on a few singles, but Jeter and Granderson hit back-to-back (and belly to belly!) home runs to tie the game. A-Rod doubled and Tex singled to bring him home, 3-2 Yanks!
The fifth inning marked the next scoring session as Jamey Varrol singled and scored on a wild pitch by Freddy, and Mauer doubled in Carroll and led 4-3.
The Yankees went scoreless in the fifth and Morneau homered in the sixth, 5-3 Twins.
The Twins were set down quickly by Cory Wade in the seventh, thanks in part to a terrific play by Granderson for the third out.
In the bottom of the inning, Russell Martin struck out, Brett Gardner struck out, and Jeter grounded out.
The eighth began with a single by Dohman, who scored on a double by Valencia, and the Twins led 7-3 and officially put the game away before the inning finally ended. The Yanks once again failed, with Failing Fred against a sub-.500 team. This is going to be a long, tumultuous, and disappointing season. Anyhow...
