Mets Game 4

Pelfrey began the year by allowing hits to Desmond, Espinosa, and Zimmerman before Adam LaRoche singled to score Espinosa. 1-0 Nats.

Neither team scored in the second but in the third, Ryan Zimmerman hit an RBI double to score Desmond and the game was 2-0.

Mike Pelfrey doubled to start the third and later was driven home by David Wright. 2-1 Nats.

Then, in the fourth, "Captain" Kirk Nieuwenheis hit a two-run homer to tie the game at 3.

The bottom of the fourth and fifth were scoreless, as was the sixth.

In the seventh inning, new pitcher Miguel Batista Retired Espinosa before being pulled for Ramirez, who got Werth to hit into a double play.

The bottom of the inning was started by Justin Turner's pinch hit fly out before Tejada doubled. Murphy grounded out and moved Tejada to third. Wright was walked before Davis grounded out.

The eigth began when DeRosa singled, Bernandina singled, and Flores grounded out to second for a double play.

The bottom of the inning began when Jason Bay recorded an out, and Duda flew out. Josh Thole hit a ground rule double. Scott Hairston pinch hit for Kirk and struck out.

In the top of the ninth, Jon Rauch walked Lombardozi before Tejada caught a snowcone from Desmond to tag Lombardozi out. Espinosa struck out and Daniel Murphy robbed Ryan Zimmerman of a hit with a diving catch.

The Mets came up with a chance to win the game in the bottom of the ninth!

Mike Baxter pinch hit for Rauch to lead off the ninth and promptly walked. Tejada bunted up third, but Zimmerman botched the throw and Baxter went to third base. Daniel Murphy drove home Baxter with a single and the New York Mets are 4-0!

Justin Turner vaulted over the fence and pied Daniel Murphy, (and Kevin Burkhardt)!

Folks,

Our baseball teams are back...

...in the New York Groove!
