Fantastic At 50!
And I'm not talking about Moyer!
The Mets faced the Astros in a matchup of two teams both celebrating their 50th season in 2012.
The game remained scoreless and Dickey took a no-hitter into the sixth inning.
Jed Lowrie singled on a communication error with one out and moved tying run to third. The Astros untied the game in the sixth, 1-0.
Matt Downs homered, 3-0 Astros.
In the top of the seventh, Wright singled Davis singled, and Baxter lined out to move up the runners. Andres Torres singled to score Wright, 3-1 Mets! Thole advanced Torres to second and Lucas Duda walked to load the bases!! Kirk Nieuwenheis doubled and the game was TIED AT THREE!!!!
Davis singled in the eighth, and Hairston nearly untied the game.
The Astros untied the game again on a steal and a run by Lowrie, 4-3.
J.D. MartÃnez came in to pinch hit against Tim Byrdak who retired the batters he faced.
Bobby Parnell came on and retired the last man to end the inning.
The Mets last hopes were dashed as they failed to score in the bottom of the ninth, and lost a heartbreaker and PATHETIC game 5-4 to the FREAKIN' HOUSTON ASTROS!
The Mets played well, but need to win close games to be more successful this season and beyond.
