The Mets entered the game with a chance to sweep the Atlanta Braves.
The Mets jumped out early with sacrifice flies by Jason Bay and David Wright to pull ahead 2-0, then took a larger lead when Jon Niese, in the midst of a no-hitter, singled followed by a double from Jason Bay in the fifth which made the score 4-0.
In the sixth, Scott Hairston hit an RBI double followed by a two-run double from Rubén Tejada.
But the Braves returned the favor with a four run inning thanks to hits from Jason Heyward, Matt Diaz, Dan Uggla and Freddie Freeman to pull within three runs.
The Mets offense was held scoreless in their half of the eighth with a Brian McCann home run, but that was as far as they went as the Braves could not avoid the sweep and fell to the Mets once again, by a score of 7-5.
