Yankees @ Royals
The Royals scored first on a 420 foot homer by Moustakas in the home second, 1-0.
Jeter doubled for his 500th double of his career in the third. Jeter scored on Mark Teixeira's 500th hit as a Yankee, and tied the game 1-1.
Eric Hosmer singled in the third and scored Dyson, 2-1.
Andruw Jones singled in the fourth and Nunez hit into a double play. Russell Martin singled for his tenth hit of the season and appeared to be tagged out at second on a stolen base attempt, but Duffy balked, therefore nullifying the play and allowing Martin to stay at second. The Yankees failed to score however.
D.J. Mitchell loaded the bases in the fifth, and the Royals scored two more runs, 4-1.
In the sixth, Cano singled and Andruw Jones singled. Nunez scored Cano on a sac fly, 4-2, but Martin lined out to end the inning.
Tex hit a sac fly and Jeter scored, 4-3.
Jones singled in the eighth, Martin singled, but the Yankees did not score.
Jeter singled in the ninth and Granderson walked. Mark Teixeira grounded into a 4-6-3 double play and A-Rod grounded out to end the game.
