Derek Jeter led off with a double and moved to third on a groundout by Grandy. Mark Teixeira hit a fly ball to right that Matsui missed, and was given a double to score Jeter, 1-0. A-Rod singled, Canó singled, 2-0. BJ Upton homered, 2-1. Carlos Peña homered, 2-2. Stewart walked and stole second in the seventh. He moved to third on a flyout by Jeter. Granderson had a sac fly, 3-2 Yankees! D-Rob entered in the seventh, and Sean Rodriguez, whom Logan walked and then stole second,scored on a double by Brooks Conrad, tied the game at 3. An error by Tex allowed a run to score, 4-3 Rays. Desmond Jennings popped out to end the inning. Fernando Rodney closed out the game and the Yankees' decline continued as they fell 4-3.
