Jordany Valdespin hit his fifth pinch hit home run to lead off the eighth, setting a Mets club record and making the score 5-2 Nationals.
Former Yankee Tyler Clippard came on and pitched a solid ninth inning. The Mets decline continued as the team suffered yet another loss to the Nationals and R.A. Dickey lost his second game of the season (first was on April 18 in Atlanta in the rain).
