The Oakland A's have hired former Yankees designated hitter Chili Davis as their hitting coach. Davis was the Yankkes DH in 1998 and 1999, two of my favorite teams.

The Red Sox have offered arbritration to Designated Hitter David Ortiz and RHP Dan Wheeler.

On a contrary note, the San Francisco Giants have declined arbritration on OF Cody Ross and Pat Burrell. Burrell has stated he is likely headed for retirement, though no official word has been given yet. They have not offered anything to OF Carlos Beltran.

Indians OF Grady Sizemore has signed a 1 year, $5,000,000 deal to remain in Cleveland.

Royals LHP Bruce Chen has signed a 2-year, $9,000,000 deal to stay in Kansas City.

And the Houston Astos have fired GM Ed Wade and President Tal Smith in moves that surprised no one. George Postolos will take over as President. No indication has been given as to the new GM.

The Pittsburgh Pirates have released OF Xavier Paul.
