The Reds have signed former Phillie Ryan Madson to a 1-year, $8,500,000 contract. He was 4-2 with a 2.37 ERA and 32 saves in 2011.

Former Met Aaron Heilman signed a minor league deal with the Mariners.

Commissioner Bud Selig has been offered a 2-year contract extention by the MLB owners to attempt to persuade him to remain through at least 2014. He previously stated that he was retiring after the 2012 season. Selig is currently the second longest-serving commissioner in history.

The San Diego Padres will be sold to Jeff Moorad (take note, Mr. Wilpon).

The Beltimore Orioles have signed LHP Wei-yin Chen to a 3-year, $11,300,000 deal. They designated OF Kyle Hudson for assignment.

The Cubs have signed LHP Paul Maholm to a one-year, $4,250,000 contract. They have also traded RHP Andrew Cashner to the Padres for Anthony Rizzo.
